How to make Kon Low Won Ton Noodle

One of the great ironies of the world- Asian girls learning how to make the quintessential Chinese delicacy from a NZ-born man. Hm. Nevertheless, they were taught well, and the recipe? Rocks. You'll be a Won Ton machine in no time. Ingredients: To make about 30 Won Tons 125 g of mince pork 125 g of mince chicken (can be substituted for prawn meat as well) Marinate meat in 2 tbsp of soy sauce, dash of ground white pepper, and a dash of sesame oil. Can also add in 1 tsp of Shiao Xing wine Add 1 egg, mix and then add in 1 tbsp of cornflour. This should make the meat sticky. Mix ingredients well. handful of choppped spring onion handful of chopped chinese mushrooms handful of chopped carrots half a handful of peas Mix in vegetables to make wonton filling. This folding method is described for the round (gyoza) wrappers. Scoop a a 50 cent size of filling and place in middle of wonton skin. Fold skin over meat filling and press edges together. Dab each end of wonton with a bit of water (w...

Sweet and Sour Pork

Recipe: Use about 500g of mince pork. Marinade with 3 tbsp of light soy sauce, sprinkle of salt, pepper, and 3 tsp of sesame oil. Chop handful of spring onion, mix in with mince pork. Beat in 1 egg and add 2 tbsp of flour. Add in dash of mixed herbs (rosemary, thyme). Mix well. Heat oil in wok. Roll mince into balls, and fry till brown. Remove once done. To make sauce: 500 ml of water, add in 1/2 cup of tomato ketchup. Add in 3 tbsp of sugar. Mix and heat in wok. Add in 1 onions (cut into bite size) and 1 tomato (bite size). Can add little bits of cut chilli for the extra zing, but not too much! Simmer on medium heat till almost soft. Add in meatballs. Allow to simmer so that the saltiness of meatballs can blend in with sauce. Can squeeze in half a lime (not too much so that it won't be too sour). Thicken with cornflour. All measurements are approximation, and recommended to adjust final flavour to taste- add more sugar if sauce is flat. Like Bolognaise Meatball sauce!! Except with...

6 months later...

Wow, has it been 6 months since I've posted anything?? At the rate it's going, it seems like it's going to be a biannual posting! Will be rectified now... Would like to post some pictures from recent trip with the Wong family members. Photos are only my current favourites of most places we visited. Sydney's skyline at dawn from the 44th floor of our serviced apartment complex right in the heart of the city. It. was. awesome. The gang at the Opera House One gorgeous day at Bondi Beach. We were trying to jump and take photo at the same time? My lovely cuz doing a lovely naval-gazing pose... Hobart. On the way to Port Arthur. Somewhere along the A3? Ok, I think I have to do this in installments.. now it's getting late and I want to sleep already!!

Hot Fuzz

Hahahaha. This show has the most ridiculous plotline ever. So ridiculous that I have to post it here. From the makers of Shaun of the Dead, it stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent (!) and Timothy Dalton (I thought he looked familiar!!). So the story goes ya: one hot-shot PC from the London Met Force, a bumbling sidekick, an armament of weaponry, a towering giant, seemingly innocent (but are they really ) villagers, murders ala Scream Style and a no-holds barred shootout. All this over the Village of the Year award. You gotta watch it to believe it. But as with Shaun of the Dead, all suspension of logic and reality is advised. For a movie set in such idyllic setting- there's surely lots of blood involved. And Wiki tells me that this is their second film in their "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy: Each film will feature a Cornetto ice cream. I'm loving all things Engrand at the moment, with the fabulous The Streets. Lurve lurve the tongue-in-cheek-lyrics! Night Nig...

My life, as viewed from my mobile phone

I've recently uploaded the random photos taken with my Sony Ericsson mobile phone. I think these are great photos because they capture the daily moments of randomness where I'm excited enough to well, take photos. This will be literally, snapshots of my life.. The extraordinary color of the Eucalyptus tree bark when it sheds. This picture was taken from Gerald's flat, and the building behind is the infamous Scheps- where I spent the first two years of my life (editted to add) IN MELBOURNE. My Scheps room after I've packed, and all ready to move out (sob)- taken for sentimental reasons. The lovely Abbottsford Convent, a old convent-turned-heritage ground/arts precinct/garden. I love this place. Taken during almost-sunset. The amazing Sony-Bravia-Ad worthy view from my room, during fall. Takes my breath away, every morning when I open my eyes. My precious Macbook- at its first unveiling. Discovery of the panoramic settings on my phone. Lessons in bedroom etiquette for, um...

I'm a dork, I am!!

Hahaha.. I just discovered my old photos. Taken in Cherating with Gordie, SK, and Ping- 2004, July. I was...26! I love these photos. We drove overnight to Cherating, stayed up whole night to watch the sunrise and waited for the turtles to nest.... while having beer of course. And up to silly antics as usual.. This was the good ol' days before PhD, babies, girlfriends and boyfriends- when we could all still stay up late, and climb coconut trees. And no matter how hard I try- I just could not look not-dorky. I love you guys!

Australian Fauna I

Here are some where I have to chase subjects around. Very difficult.. maybe except for the koala. Who doesn't do anything except, eat, sleep, sleep sleep, sleep... Turning out to be a online photoalbum!
