Random Tripping

I've blogged all our major trips, and now I'm just going to post some of my favourite pictures from Mrs. Wong's trip around Melbourne.

Williamstown: a old seaport village that has now flourished into a fashionable, yuppie/tourist frequented little town just 20 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD. Pretty port with lots of yachts and boats decorating the view. In the horizon, you can see Melbourne's skyline, enveloped by a layer of shell-pink haze. It probably is indicative of the level of pollution but it sure does make a pretty skyline.

Victoria, Australia

During Mum's recent visit to Australia, we did a fair bit of traveling. In her 5 weeks stay here, I think we did more than 5000 km around Victoria and New South Wales. A graphical representation of the places we went to: I know the map above can be customized with Google map, but I don't know how, dammit! Techonolgy, sigh... Some of our highlights: 1. Saw most of Victoria's attractions. 2. Went from oh, total driving mileage in Melbourne = 5 km to scoring a massive 900 kms during our drive up to Sydney. It was fantastic because I've never done it before, we've pushed ourselves to drive overnight after a day of work and there's just something magical being on the road in a tiny 2-door Ford at 3 am. 3. Went to Dimboola, which is a small small country town, (population: 1700) from which Sonya hails from. I'm a dork, I am!!

Hahaha.. I just discovered my old photos. Taken in Cherating with Gordie, SK, and Ping- 2004, July. I was...26! I love these photos. We drove overnight to Cherating, stayed up whole night to watch the sunrise and waited for the turtles to nest.... while having beer of course. And up to silly antics as usual.. This was the good ol' days before PhD, babies, girlfriends and boyfriends- when we could all still stay up late, and climb coconut trees. And no matter how hard I try- I just could not look not-dorky. I love you guys!

Long delayed photographs of Sydney

Hmm. I am on a roll.. am beset by urges to do anything except work- is that called procrastination? So, here they are. Selected photographs taken with Farrah's Canon E05, SLR of Sydney while I was there in January. Taken on 13 April 2008: View of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, taken from the Botanical Gardens, on a late afternoon after the rain. Love the skyline and the dramatic clouds. It is actually the same day- but how the sky is different. One of my favourite shots. I actually made a short note of the my mood at the time- it reads: Today is gorgeous. Rained for an hour and now the everything is awashed with the after-the-rain dampness and also, crispness. The air smells wonderful and it just feels so peaceful.
