Hot Fuzz

Hahahaha. This show has the most ridiculous plotline ever. So ridiculous that I have to post it here. From the makers of Shaun of the Dead, it stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent (!) and Timothy Dalton (I thought he looked familiar!!). So the story goes ya: one hot-shot PC from the London Met Force, a bumbling sidekick, an armament of weaponry, a towering giant, seemingly innocent (but are they really ) villagers, murders ala Scream Style and a no-holds barred shootout. All this over the Village of the Year award. You gotta watch it to believe it. But as with Shaun of the Dead, all suspension of logic and reality is advised. For a movie set in such idyllic setting- there's surely lots of blood involved. And Wiki tells me that this is their second film in their "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy: Each film will feature a Cornetto ice cream. I'm loving all things Engrand at the moment, with the fabulous The Streets. Lurve lurve the tongue-in-cheek-lyrics! Night Nig

My life, as viewed from my mobile phone

I've recently uploaded the random photos taken with my Sony Ericsson mobile phone. I think these are great photos because they capture the daily moments of randomness where I'm excited enough to well, take photos. This will be literally, snapshots of my life.. The extraordinary color of the Eucalyptus tree bark when it sheds. This picture was taken from Gerald's flat, and the building behind is the infamous Scheps- where I spent the first two years of my life (editted to add) IN MELBOURNE. My Scheps room after I've packed, and all ready to move out (sob)- taken for sentimental reasons. The lovely Abbottsford Convent, a old convent-turned-heritage ground/arts precinct/garden. I love this place. Taken during almost-sunset. The amazing Sony-Bravia-Ad worthy view from my room, during fall. Takes my breath away, every morning when I open my eyes. My precious Macbook- at its first unveiling. Discovery of the panoramic settings on my phone. Lessons in bedroom etiquette for, um

I'm a dork, I am!!

Hahaha.. I just discovered my old photos. Taken in Cherating with Gordie, SK, and Ping- 2004, July. I was...26! I love these photos. We drove overnight to Cherating, stayed up whole night to watch the sunrise and waited for the turtles to nest.... while having beer of course. And up to silly antics as usual.. This was the good ol' days before PhD, babies, girlfriends and boyfriends- when we could all still stay up late, and climb coconut trees. And no matter how hard I try- I just could not look not-dorky. I love you guys!

Australian Fauna I

Here are some where I have to chase subjects around. Very difficult.. maybe except for the koala. Who doesn't do anything except, eat, sleep, sleep sleep, sleep... Turning out to be a online photoalbum!

Australian Flora I

Been practising my non-existent photography skills on various Australian flora. Easy because you don't need to chase the subject around, and you can shoot that one angle 10 times over until you get it right. I love the succulents. This series of succulents were taken at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney. So pretty- hardly like the prickly cactus! I tried to look for their names but it's too late to be making any real effort. So they are all pretty succulent plants at the moment!

Just felt like it.

Random posting of photographs taken... University of Sydney, January 08. It's a beautiful, sandstone university. This is the quadrangle, the main court of the University. This was taken during the uni break- hence the peacefulness. Sleepy time.

A pretty good weekend.

On Friday, Kyles and I went to catch the ABC Young Performer's Grand Final at Hamer Hall. Three soloist were vying for the title and the grand prize of $25,000. We had a superachiever violinist who's a doctor in her day-job (and I'm complaining about tutoring), an oboeist/oboist?, and a quirky pianist complete with the requisite crazy hair. Violinist, Rebecca Chan played Erlich Korngold's Violin Concerto, while Jessica played Strauss's Oboe Concerto. My favourite, Maxwell-crazy hair, played the amazing Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1. Rebecca was good- unfortunately the bottle of wine Kyles and I shared over dinner was better. I found myself doing the embarrassing nod-nod that I usually do while on any form of public transport, and/or seminars. I think the girl sitting next to me was getting concerned at one point when I swayed dangerously close to her shoulders. I just hope she thought I was getting into the music! After a loo-break, which I supposed got rid of th

Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test... Pure Nerd 70 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 26% Dork For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd . The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful. Long delayed photographs of Sydney

Hmm. I am on a roll.. am beset by urges to do anything except work- is that called procrastination? So, here they are. Selected photographs taken with Farrah's Canon E05, SLR of Sydney while I was there in January. Taken on 13 April 2008: View of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, taken from the Botanical Gardens, on a late afternoon after the rain. Love the skyline and the dramatic clouds. It is actually the same day- but how the sky is different. One of my favourite shots. I actually made a short note of the my mood at the time- it reads: Today is gorgeous. Rained for an hour and now the everything is awashed with the after-the-rain dampness and also, crispness. The air smells wonderful and it just feels so peaceful. Everything feels cleansed and renewed. Nature is beautiful. St. Mary's Cathedral- also after the rain Three fine gentlemen at the Botanical Gardens Away from nature- I like this shot. Taken at the King's Cross (duh) train station. Next on the prog
